You will have noticed that a new version of the mail client and server was deployed last night. This is correct a security issue.

You should receive the automatic client update today.

Our applogies to customers who experienced extended downtime to the mail server. Not all domains were affected. This was caused by a failed upgrade to the new release on our primary server.

 If you still have issues in connecting then please let us know.

This is an early warning there will be an MX record change for the CareFreemail servers.

If we manage your domain then there is no action to be performed by yourselves. However, if your domain is not managed by us then please note that the old mailserver MX record for Stafford IT Services domain will no longer work after 15th December.

You should migrate to:

MX: smtp.carefreemail.co.uk

Please note that all recent installations/ mail migrations (since October 2008) have been using these new settings and there is no action for you to take.

The mail server will be down today at 15:00 for approx 10 mins for an upgrade to the current version.

You will be prompted to upgrade the mail connectors when this process has been completed.

This update brings a fix to the reported mail connector crash in Outlook 2007.

You will shortly find that you will get an upgrade notification when next logging into the e-mail system.

The reason for this we have just finished the promised upgrade to the CareFreeMail server.

This is a big release for us and contains the following fixes:

• Improved compatibility with Apple iPhone IMAP client.
• Messages marked as deleted via IMAP are immediately removed from the mailbox.
• Fixed potential stability issue in antivirus process during downloading updates.
• Fixed mailbox lockout when user mail filter rules are corrupted.
• Meeting responses from ActiveSync were not correctly recognized in CalDAV.
• E-mail sent on behalf from Entourage was delivered also to original sender.
• Birthday and anniversary dates in contact could be shifted one day to the past in Entourage.

The CareFree mail service will not be available tomorrow Sat 11th October 2008 from 06:00 thru 09:00 whist we migrate to new hardware.

This will not affect delivery of your e-mail. All services will re-connect at the end of this process.

The e-mail servers are now running normally after the upgrade. As a result of this update we will be announcing support for the new iPhone 2.0 shortly

We are performing an upgrade to the e-mail servers this evening and will be unavailable tonight until 10pm

Just to let you all know that over the next few weeks/months we will be migrating all our mailboxes over to Exchange 2007. This will require you to make some changes to your e-mail setups. We will be contacting all our subscribers over the next few months to ensure that you understand how to migrate your e-mail.

Parts of e-mail systems are down at the moment and we are trying to restore them as soon as possible.
